More than 30 people volunteered to help make a new TV advert to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Eden Valley Hospice.

Fundraisers, volunteers and people whose lives have been touched by the hospice came together to see it for the first time at the Halston Hotel.

One of its youngest stars was four year old Erin Cowx who wore a superhero costume at the start of the advert.

She and her seven year old Hollie Cowx sister were thrilled to see themselves on the screen at the event,

Hollie also got  a special thank you from the Hospice too after being inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore and walking the 1.5-mile length of her driveway every day for a month, raising more than £650.

Among those who volunteered to be in the advert were families who’ve had loved ones cared for by the charity,  the Gilford Gillies under 10s football team and volunteers who help out in the hospice garden,

Professor Patricia Livsey, Chief Executive at Eden Valley Hospice, said: “The hospice means so much to so many in our community and it is wonderful to see people come together once again to support us.

“We’re sure that the contribution of everyone who appeared in the advert will go a long way towards securing our future.”

The advert, which has been airing on  ITV Border this month, encourages the public to leave the hospice a gift in their will and help them reach their target of 300 pledges in their 30th year.

Patricia added: “Gifts left in wills make up around 35 per cent of the £3m we need to raise through donations every year, and during Covid-19 these legacies have been what have saved us when other fundraising wasn’t an option.”

The hospice, which serves north Cumbria and south west Scotland, has already received several pledges from members of the public as a result of the advert, and charity bosses are hopeful that these will be the first of many.
